Here are some of our current projects…
citizen science
Citizen science bridges gaps by harnessing the power of people who are motivated by curiosity, a desire to advance research, or a concern about environmental conditions in their communities, then connecting them to projects that benefit from their energy and dedication.
bird monitoring
Monitoring provides essential information about status and change in bird populations. Our plans to conduct regularly scheduled bird monitoring are well underway. Please check our Events page for bird monitoring dates and times, as well as other nature events and workshops.
vegetation surveys
Vegetation surveys are an important research tool. These surveys define vegetation types and helps to understand differences among them, which is essential for both basic ecological research and applications in biodiversity conservation and environmental monitoring. Holly Haven is undergoing many changes with its landscape. Plans are in place to remove invasive plants and reintroduce native plants on the property. After this landscape renovation is complete, we will be holding scientific vegetation surveys and seed gathering workshops for our Seed Library. Volunteers will be needed to participate in these crucial surveys. Please check our Events page in Spring 2019 for dates, times, and more details.
